Truth is Nowhere ~ the end of ways

Jun 14, 2019

Saying For Today: This way is humbling. Yet, we find a deep, sweet peace, joy, and love within this Silence that arises for we have been humbled, a humbling that opens us to the silent workings of Grace.

Community is Co-Unity, or "unity-in-communion." Diversity enhances the particular being of every being, while affirming the underlying oneness that makes communion possible. We enhance our life together through a deep respect for what makes us different, a difference that is the flowering of our oneness. We together are an inexplicable, unspeakable tapestry of Beauty.

Become a fertile ground for the divine birth. Cherish this deep silence within, nourish it.

... I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
*Psalm 131.2 NLT

Seeker:
Sir, where do I go
to discover the Truth;
some say inside,
some say outside?

Sage:
If you go inside,
it is outside.
If you go outside,
it is inside.

Seeker:
So, where do I go?

Sage:
Nowhere.

The Light of Grace is so near we cannot see it, cannot find it. If one says, "I found it," truly this is not so; what one would rightly say is, "It found me."

We engage a practice of silence daily to practice relaxing the body and mind. This is really a non-practice. Yet, we engage practices to habituate the body and mind to this quiet receptivity.

When we are relaxed and receptive to this Light of Grace, the challenge becomes to learn how this can feel to the body and mind. This being-nowhere can be disconcerting. After over 25 years of spiritual practices in Silence, I am still learning of this. At times, the mind and body begins searching, thinking there must be more to the Silence than what is happening. So, each time we relax into this disconcerting response, the mind and body relaxes and becomes teachable of what the Silence is doing, which feels to us like a doing nothing.

We, over time, learn to trust this that feels like nothing and doing nothing. Then, we more easily trust the Silence, responding to the Silence as a world different from the sensory stimulations and experiences we were conditioned to prior.

Now, what is this Silence I often write of? This Silence is not silence. The second silence is an absence. The first Silence is a Presence. Silence is one way of referring to this Unknown that is known in the Intimacy of Love.

So, yes, there is nowhere to go. Still, we are not socialized to enjoy going nowhere. We learn the joy of this being-here-now through an intentional path that leads us to the end of all paths, we walk a Way that leads to no way. Here, we learn of a deep peace that remains with us day and night.

This way is humbling. Yet, we find a deep, sweet peace, joy, and love within this Silence that arises for we have been humbled, a humbling that opens us to the silent workings of Grace.

Each aspect of Nature is a revelation, a mystery. Earth as community is a tapestry of revelations, of mysteries, a living Message of Life. Nature is a sacred Scripture. The Unseen births all we see; through the seen we discover the Unseen, through communion with what appears, we enjoy what is not an appearance.
